New legislation passed today means that vehicle keepers will no longer need to renew statutory off-road notifications (SORN) annually.
In future, once you make a SORN declaration, it will have effect indefinitely, until either a new tax disc is obtained or there is a change of keeper.
This sensible and practical change by the Department of Transport comes into force on 16th December 2013.
It will undoubtedly make life easier for anyone who keeps a vehicle off the road and untaxed for part of the year, for example many classic car and bike owners.
