DSA and VOSA Replaced By New Agency

DVSA Logo

The Driving Standard Agency (DSA) and Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) have been replaced by a new organization, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

Before the merger, DSA was responsible for driving tests, while VOSA was in charge of certain licensing, testing and enforcement services,  including compliance of operators and drivers with road traffic legislation.

The Department of Transport says that the new DVSA will have a range of responsibilities, including dealing with applications for truck and bus operating licences, vehicle testing schemes and enforcing transport legislation.

The DVSA will also enforce drivers’ hours and licensing requirements, provide training & advice, investigate accidents, defects and recalls, and run tests for large goods vehicle instructors, as well as driver trainers.
