Police have said that over 300 drivers were arrested in Greater Manchester for drink driving over Christmas – that’s 4 out of every 100 people stopped by police.
72 people tested positive when they were tested after an accident, with the other 247 caught by road traffic officers out on patrol or at roadside checks.
Between 1 December 2013 and 1 January 2014 police stopped and breathalysed almost 8,000 motorists as part of their annual drink drive campaign.
It is worth noting that these numbers are 4% down on the previous year.
Anyone caught of drink driving is at risk of a Magistrates’ Court disqualification (ban).
